FINAL GIRLS Rankings- Small/Large/All-Class

I just posted the Girls rankings, I didn't do them, just posted them. So here are the final girls rankings before the State Tournament. Good luck to all wrestlers!

Thanks goes out to Humint for handling that for me. My remote connection would not allow me to update those so fortunately he was a available and has access to post those for us in my absence. Lets NOT forget to thank the Girl's ranker that produced those for getting the rankings done for THREE divisions! They do a great job.

It appears that our hard working ranker has something for region 3 and 4. Looking at the top 5 in each weight class, well you know. Good thing that wrestling decides who stands on the podium.

The toughest girls in the state come out of those regions, look it up. It’s not favoritism, it’s facts. When your girls from Region 1/2 get man handled by the girls from Region 3/4, you will see why they are ranked higher. Even before the split of divisions, these girls were always ranked and placed higher than the region 1/2 girls. Good luck at state, and like you said, “wrestling decides who stands on the podium”, and where at too.

The ranker's top 5
Region 3 had 27
Region 4 had 21
Region 1 had 12
Region 2 had 10

After wrestling at state top 5
Region 3 had 22
Region 4 had 19
Region 1 had 14
Region 2 had 15

It appears that wrestling sorted it out. Regions 3 and 4 didn't really manhandle anything. It appears that region 2 outperformed the ranker's expectations. While region 3 underperformed.

Really it is no big deal. Ranking any classification is a difficult and time consuming endeavor. I think I would rather be a ref than one of the rankers.

21 of the 28 finalists came from regions 3 & 4...(big schools which is what the msg above appears to be citing)

That old trope about lies, darn lies and statistics....draw the line where you want to get the result you want.

Half (or more) of region 3 overlaps with R region 2 (SPSL 4A and SSC 3A)...there really isn't any magic demarcation line...

The ranker's top 8
Region 3 had 32
Region 4 had 34
Region 1 had 25
Region 2 had 21

After wrestling at state top 8
Region 3 had 36
Region 4 had 33
Region 1 had 23
Region 2 had 20

Sad thing is, the wiaa doesnt take into consideration ranking, head to head OR placement if u have two different weight classes combined into one this year. So now u hv the numbers 1,2 n3 ranked girls at 105 all on the same side of the bracket…. Play by play means, number 1 knocks out number 3 first. Then they knock out number 2 and then girls that are way lower ranked or not ranked at all wrestle in the finals! Yeah, that seems accurate

We going there? for one where you looking at where there are updated rankings? and two if you actually know your place everyone knows she was winning 5-0 in the state finals before her shoulder popped out and had to wrestle with one arm. kuddos for her for actually trying to finish the match rather than just give it up. Let me guess did she beat your daughter enough for you to start hating?

She was very obviously still using both arms when she was up 5-2 and when she was tied 5-5.
She very clearly injured (reinjured?) Her shoulder during the match as evidenced by (1) her obvious pain at the conclusion of the match (2) the ice bag on her shoulder on the stand and (3) her statement to the other wrestler after the match that she hurt her arm posting on it near the end of the match.

I have no idea if she was 100 % for the match but is disingenuous to claim she wrestled the match "1 armed".

I'm not sure how healthy Johnson was going into the finals match, but let's look at the facts. Johnson sat out the entire season until Districts after her injury. The injury was pretty serious from what I've been hearing, but that's between her and her coaches and family. The Curtis girl won fair and square and didn't do anything malicious to injure her in the finals. But, let's not overlook the fact that Johnson is a multiple time all-american and undefeated state championship last year. She is one of the best female wrestlers in WA, regardless of weight class. Her coming back after her injury was most likely for her team, not individual accolades. She walks through another state title if healthy.

BS! Curtis girl got on a roll and took her out. Don't go there. Curtis girl got cauught for 5 but had the grit to get them back and more. Cradle was deadly and it looked like Johnson was gassed and couldn't fight no more.

I'm almost finished with the all class girls after season rankings. I should have them to Dave in a day or 2. Just not as motivated to move quickly as I am during season.

make this clear. not taking anything away from the Curtis girl at all. she did not do anything wrong doing for the state title. To come on here though and laugh because Johnson is still number 1 because she got beat with a serious injury baffles me. Especially when rankings have not even been updated. If healthy she would have walked away easily with another title. Johnson came back after serious injury for her team and a team state title for her teammates when she could have easily sat out and be selfish and not take criticism. yes I know this is the message board full of haters but come one lest be real. Both girls are great wrestlers and again taking nothing away from Curtis girl congrats to her I know Johnson was happy for her as well.

Johnson performed like she performs at all USA national events. You know what I mean. She is good against the inexperienced but put a talented one in front of her, she struggles. Before you dispute..name one legit person that is an all american, state champ etc. that she has beat and we will continue this conversation. If you can't, just keep tending to her "shoulder"

She has beat Anna Dicugno several times with no losses. She also beat Elena Ivaldi (current #7 pound for pound in USA Rankings) at Fargo in 2021. There are countless more nationally ranked girls she has beat. I was just watching this thread, but it's getting ridiculous that anyone would argue a Nationally ranked girl like Johnson isn't a high level wrestler. The Curtis girl won and deserved the title, nobody is arguing that. But don't pretend Johnson isn't a higher level wrestler.

If it makes you all feel better, the Mariners are currently up 3-0 in the first spring season game. As someone sitting in the chair for this match, I can assure you, the match is over. Results were recorded and all this business about rankings won't help Curtis in anyway repeat as champion. Time to watch some baseball and eat ice-cream.

(Oh and train Freestyle/Greco).

Anyone that posts complaining about a message board being full of haters needs to seriously look in the mirror. It is not full of haters but there are a few and there are even more whiners. That being said, those are probably less than 1% of the board users the rest are normal people. Look inside and stop projecting your own inner demons into others.
