It's not about loving them. It's how the scoring system irons out and ranks them, there is no real grey area in my method. I have no relation to any HS wrestling program. But how can one say that they don't wrestle anyone??

Reno TOC - finished 47th out of 95 teams represented
Winter Cup - finished 2nd
Rollie Lane - finished 23rd out of 72 teams represented

Perfect example of how to respond

People should take note here as this is a perfect example of how to respond to a post that may (or may not) be making allegations of something. Is this case the allegation was that 3A ranker is biased. Did you notice his response? No emotion just presented facts and asked a question. This is exactly how people reading something that THEY perceive to be a negative allegation should respond. Don't get mad, just present data proving that the allegation is false that is easy to do and Humint ONE just showed you how. If you can't provide data to refute something then maybe the allegation was correct?

It is very similar to how a coach should handle a questionable (in his mind) call. Don't get mad, just ask a question for clarification. Now, if the the explanation (data) you receive does not accurately reflect the rule in the book, then discuss (provide data from the rules book) with the ref the rule and if you are right on reading the rule then you will get a change on the call. If not right then you need to be ready to receive the Coaches Misconduct call because you know the books says to.

Just a little common sense 101 discussion based on years managing the board and years in both the coaching and officiating trenches. Maybe that will help someone, maybe not.

I believe At Rollie Lane, SHS placed much higher. Girls teams were above them in the order of scoring.

Furthermore, Luke Almaguer defeated Hedrick from Chiawana at Winter Cup but Hedrick is still ranked higher than him.

The fact of the matter is, based off how I rank them, Hedrick has more significant wins than Almaguer. Even though Almaguer won their head-to-head matchup. You can't solely base rankings off of head-to-head matchups. I've found the rankings aren't as clean or accurate as they are when I put a different formula in place that gauges tournament wins/finishes, strength of those tournaments, head-to-heads, common opponents, opponent's opponents, and quality/significant wins and they way they win or lose. I take all of that into consideration when I do rankings and I take it very seriously. If there are glowing discrepancies, I am more than willing to have open ears and dig in and see what I missed.

Actually, if you go to the 2023 Rollie Lane Invitational results on track Rollie Results you'll see they placed 23rd with ties.

Top 15 at Rollie Lane is really good.

I don't think they would go to this tournament if they were "dodging" teams.

Why would sunnyside travel 10 mins up the road to wrestle in the toughest tournament in the state this weekend ,when they could travel across the mountains during a blizzard and wrestle in arguably the weakest tournament in the state. Duhh!!

Hamilton from Deer Park had a good tournament. Upset Rodriguez of Toppenish and Medina of Chiawana. Just watched a fun match between Salinas and Hoffman in the semis

Yeah Hamilton, a freshman, was on a tear. The finals with Hoffman was a grindfest though. Russell from Othello, another freshman, also beat Medina in a wild overtime match. Russell in the quarters also went into overtime with Salinas in a tough match. Acosta of Prosser beat Rodriguez at the buzzer in their consultation match and then Acosta went on to MD Salinas before losing to Russell in a 2A match up for third place.

It seems like Sunnyside has the budget and the support to take their kids to different venue. They went to Reno, Rollie Lane and other tournaments around the state. Their girls went to Kelso, Everett, Othello etc. Why not? and good for them!
