170 All class rankings

Jon Schoenlein should be ranked higher than 7th. This year his only loss is to Thor Michaelson. He has pinned Alex Ford and Judah Bishop in the first period. He also beat Ezekiel McEwen in the finals at Gut Check.

4A hasn’t been updated since Gut Check. I don’t think they used info from last weekend to make these all class rankings.

Those rankings are a week old. I am sure you will see many changes next week.

Yes, kid is a natural. The way he handled that DB at pacific coast was outstanding. I was a fan of the older brother ( Thor) until Gutt check. I’m sure his stock went down after that display of unsportsmanlike dipshitery. Always sad to see a kid that’s worked so hard to throw it away.
Wouldn’t mind seeing a major upset with him looking up at the ceiling at Mat classic.

Nice work Skyview (Jon). You’ve handled yourself like a champion this year. Keep up the good work.

I don't know him personally but I've talked to a few people who have worked with him and I've watched him wrestle a few times. I heard the school is having a hard time getting good wrestling partners as he's tossing around a couple former college wrestlers. That could be rumors. But, it's what I've been told by people close to Skyview. And I believe it after seeing how he handled Ford from Prairie.

If I have learned anything from this sport, being humbled is inevitable.

Good luck to this young man, taking down some of the best in Washington. Kudos to his coaches to finding some college guys to come in as well.

These posts take me back to watching a kid from Arlington in maybe 2010ish. He walked through everyone at Regionals. Was a heck of an athlete but really one dimensional on his feet. Shot a blast double with arms wide from outside/space. People thought he would walk through any competition. He lost his first or second match at state the next weekend and "inj defaulted" out of the tournament.

I think I know who you are talking about, but I can’t remember his name. The Arlington kid was one of the best overall athletes I have ever seen. Was a stud QB, Basketball Player and Track Star, blew his knees out his Junior year. I think Rick Iverson talked him into wrestling his senior year and he gave up basketball for it. I think he did real well into State and went into OT against the eventual State Champ. Both stayed on the mat mat laying in exhaustion. The Arlington kid hurt his shoulder and injury defaulted. He went on to West Point for track and now is a Commissioned Officer. Others please chime in if the details a different.

Blake McPherson is who you’re thinking of. One of the best pure athletes I’ve ever seen. Great kid and now a great man with a small family.

Yup! That’s the guy. Seriously he was the best overall HS Athlete I’ve ever seen.

I believe he is the same guy Brass Balls is referring to. He was much more than a guy that fizzled at State if you saw him in the big picture of things. His work ethic was crazy and is everything West Point and this Country needs.

I wanted to have him on our ORCA dual team that year but his shoulder was gone. I get it. A phenomenal athlete and he has done well in life.

His family lived across the street from me in Everett for several years before they moved to Arlington. I don't remember if Blake was born then or later but I think his oldest brother used to go with my oldest son to wrestling practice at Snohomish in the early 90's before we started Jonny at USA Everett. His dad's sheetrock company did the sheetrock in my home addition 20 some years ago. Small world.

I was at Pac Coast and saw his first match with Alex Ford, I didn't see his second match with him, which Track said was a major decision. His first match was by pin in about a minute. He hit a crazy hybrid single leg and put Ford straight to his back. The pinning hold was so tight Ford passed out cold as the pin was called. There is videos floating around of the match. It was the most impressive dominant match I has watched all year. I don't know Jon, but keep it up young man. Super technique
