More preseason rankings have been posted

We now have preseason rankings up for B, 1A and all the Girls divisions. Weights are always a guess at this time based on last year and really don't get updated until the results start to show up.

PS: We are still looking for a 1A ranker as the results posted their are only based on last year and will not be updated until we fill that position. I have the complete spreadsheet used by Jeff last year that has many more wrestlers on it and the significant results so the new ranker doesn't have to start from scratch. Just get a hold of me if interested.

I see Shelby Moore ranked. She was truly #1, but is not wrestling this year. She is at the OTC instead. Correct me if I’m wrong ladies.

Yea she’s not wrestling this year in Washington.

but she’s doing big things. I think once the season is underway they will take her off the rankings. Correct me if I’m wrong.

Yep, that was my mistake. I removed her from the small school girl's rankings, then forgot to transfer that over to the overall. By the way, if anyone has any Freshman for me to keep an eye out for, let me know school and approximate weight. I'm sure we'll figure them out by mid December anyway, but any help along the way is great.

I'm just curious if she will be back and wrestle at Mat Classic. I seem to remember a few years ago when Derek Garcia of Woolley was at the OTC his senior year but came back to wrestle the post season. Not sure of the rules now but I assume she will be schooling on line and I think that allows them to compete for the home school if they chose to. Henry Cejudo also was at the OTC and got 4 state titles so I know it gets done if they want to.

It's a valid question.

I don't see her coming back and wrestling though. She has already been a finalist and state champion. Now that the Girls division is split up, the competition is less competitive. Hoping the best for Shelby and her bright future.

She would have to get her twelve practice's in with the team and other stuff or do you just look the other way for certain people?

What if she got in 25 practices in Colorado? Would that count? Do you know for sure if it wouldn't?

17.12.0 PRACTICE REGULATIONS - School sponsorship or promotion of practice and/or participation is restricted to the WIAA
designated season for that sport. Several practice regulations that apply to all sports during the school year are as
follows:
17.12.1 PRACTICE DEFINITION – Practice is defined as a regularly scheduled team physical activity designed for the
preparation of athletes for the ensuing sports season and must be conducted under the supervision of the
school coach. Participation in physical education classes does not constitute a practice.
Q&A-1: One of our volleyball players will be on vacation with her family the day that volleyball
practice starts. Since her dad is a club coach, could he run her through practice drills so she can
count those days toward meeting the minimum pre-contest practice requirements?
NO. Only the practices run by authorized school coaches may count toward meeting the minimum
practice requirements.
Q&A-2: One of the wrestlers will return from basic military training one week into the wrestling
season. Can basic training count towards the pre-contest practice requirements?
