Rule 17.5.1--COACHING OUT OF SEASON

Please Read it and understand it...

17.5.1 For the purposes of the out‐of‐season regulations, the WIAA has determined that slow pitch and fast pitch
softball; interscholastic/collegiate/folk style/ USA wrestling, freestyle wrestling, and Greco‐Roman
wrestling; and unified sports teams shall be considered separate and distinct sports.

A coach can coach freestyle and/or greco year round.

A coach can also coach any folk style tournament if it is USA Wrestling sponsored all year round.

A coach can also coach folkstyle, mess with the weight plans, recruit out of their district and already be practicing because no one really cares. Just make sure there are only two coaches in the corner because that’s where you will get dinged!

So it appears that you have an issue with the refs enforcing the letter of the law (NFHS Rule Book and USAW Rule Book) that says TWO coaches in the corner? NFHS Rule 2-2-2. Are the refs supposed to decide what rules to enforce and which ones to ignore?

Your response is not really clear but it sounds like a real problem. Has more than 2 coaches in the corner been an issue for you? Have you personally done something improper that you feel causes refs to target you for some reason and only limit you to one coach?

You didn't answer my question. Do you like to break the rules often but gets upset when anyone moves to a team other than yours?

As a referee, we have the ability to enforce "game day" operations such as the two coaches per corner rule.

It is not our responsibility or jurisdiction to enforce things such as out of season coaching, student eligibility, weight loss plans, or recruiting violations.

I agree with you. I think he was getting to that once he set the hook on Lol. I think Lol is just a slippery fish that swam away to try again another day.
