It is mind boggling that posters come on a wrestling message board and not only post things that are unrelated to wrestling or WA, but when they do it is 98% negative. Why is this? Are you bored? Do you have a vendetta against current coaches and kids? Are you taking out your lackluster wrestling career on our coaches and wrestlers to make yourself feel better? I really just don't get it. |
DaveG just posted recently that he doesn't have time to babysit nor should any personal attacks be happening, yet it is never ending. There is more personal judgement on this forum then anywhere I have ever seen and I'm not a young buck anymore, and been following this site for 17 years now.
Bashing coaches, whether it be national team, clubs, or school just doesn't seem proactive in a state where we have little to no college wrestling. I don't want to say "as a community" because there are real supporters in our state, but it's few and far between but the haters really make it hard to move forward in a positive way that brings positive attention.
Our "support" is embarrassing honestly. The divide is huge, and I don't just mean "east side versus west". I mean the personal attacks on coaches who are not only dealing with their own families, work, Covid, etc.. but they also coach for free or very little and they get beat down for everyone to read about, if it's true or not. Even the comparison between coaches (like the current thread is going) are you kidding me? We are pining them against each other in such a negative way?
This is the same with the Officials. Everyone has such a negative opinion and something to say yet we have and had such low numbers and need many more across the state but it's easier to bash them on a board than get off your asses and help. Yes, help. There are plenty of moms or dads, fans and college kids that could make a few bucks, learn a great trade and one necessary for our sport, and also make a difference in young lives. If you all think Covid can halt sports I can assure you a lack of officials can too, and it's getting to that point in WA. Most associations cannot cover all the events in their areas.
The personal attacks - I have never seen anything like it. Most if not all on here would agree that bullying in our schools is a huge threat and does much damage to a young person. What do you think you are doing on here when you slander , bash, attack someone (whether it's real or not) on a public forum? You are bullying..and you're supposed to be the adult? I am fairly certain kids aren't born bullies but it starts and ends at home so look in the mirror when a kid commits suicide from bullying in your school and ask yourself if you or your kid had something to do with it indirectly or not.
We are fighting a pandemic, one that has also turned political, yet instead of coming together (the adults) and doing the most important thing for the kids like keeping them on the mat or working out to keep their minds and bodies healthy, there is more bashing on who is wrestling "underground" or attacking coaches for trying to give them weekly mat time. Btw, good on you Mike in Spokane for doing just that, and all the other coaches across the state who did something positive.
No one here is above anyone else to judge another persons downfalls, mistakes, tragedy. Everyone has skeletons as that is a part of life. I mean everyone. Maybe the old saying of treat others how you want to be treated actually was real. Bashing people on a message board anonymously isn't tough, it's shameful and probably is worse than what your bashing said person of. Think about that, than see if your kid has those same traits that you've passed down to them and ask yourself if that's what a parent should be doing.
How is it there is no college wrestling in WA other than a defunct Highline (who everyone said they supported financially and otherwise) and a few other community colleges? Everyone thinks they have the answer, and I've been hearing it for the 17 years I've been on the board yet nothing. Those few groups that work hard to try bringing it back are slandered, and not a single poster on this board has done anything to help, just like the officiating issue.
Washington needs help, posters on this board need help. Our state will continue to be where it is until you get off your keyboards and actually do something positive. It's sad, really, really sad. Forget about the slandering, bashing, attacking for a minute. Look in the mirror and ask yourself what have you done for the sport of wrestling in our state recently? Or ever? Now ask yourself when the last time you posted something negative on this board that pushed WA wrestling back even further. There is your answer.
