I see a lot people on forums and on certain "news" outlets complaining that "a year ago they were saying this and now they are saying something different so that makes it all false" (or something like that). My answer to that is CDC and company are/have been doing the best they can with the available data they have on a given week. This is uncharted territory and no one knows for sure what is right. First it was mask, then no mask, then mask again. The flip-flop doesn't mean they are lying, it just means they were incorrect on the previous decision. That happens in science with evolving conditions. |
Things have obviously changed from 247 years ago and things are changing on a weekly basis in the present. Incorrect conclusions doesn't mean they are intentionally lying to you. It just means they were incorrect. Maybe they get it right next time, or maybe they don't, but hopefully they will. I just try to comply with the rules and assume that the guys in charge know more than me.
We all have opinions. I generally keep my opinions to myself unless that person truly wants to hear my opinion on a personal level (not on a message board). THAT is a big problem now days. Everyone seems to want everyone else to listen to THEIR opinions, even if the others don't want to hear it. If I see a problem that someone is having, and think I know the solution, I ask if they would like to hear my opinion, I don't just blurt it out (usually ). Sometimes they will say yes and sometimes they say no but by asking I am not sticking my nose in where it isn't wanted. My natural, human tendency is to want to butt in with my opinion. I have worked for a long time at trying not to do that. It is a work in progress.
