Your point about helping the sport out by becoming an official is nothing new (albeit spot on), however now may be the most important time in history in doing just that. This sport, and especially in WA where the long timers are older and will be retiring, needs new younger and middle age dads, fans, ex wrestlers to become officials. I have officiated for some time and although we do not work for the check you can make a nice little check at the end of the season. I don't look at it as working for a check, rather doing something I love, being around the sport I love, hopefully contributing good officiating and I'd do it for free so getting a little something is a bonus. The younger guys always need to earn some cash for college or whatever so it's a win/win. My checks range from 2500-3500 per season which makes up for travel and donating back to the sport. Having coaches ref is great when needed but we need officials out there!|
