You are right on the mark Rainman! |
Cases daren't the most important data point (most are very minor anyway), but are good to talk about politically because of the higher false positives.
It is best to look at deaths and hospitalizations, which are harder to get wrong. Besides, that is what we really care about . . . not some loss of taste or mild cold symptoms that most young people experience.
The CDC makes the numbers on Deaths easy to find and compare by state and age. From these numbers, it is clear that:
1) CDC - Deaths by Age: The young are not in any more danger of Covid than they are of the riding in cars, heart failure, or even being murdered.
2) CDC - Deaths by State: The states that were shutdown didn't do better than those that were open. (If masks really worked, the differences should be obvious, not a +2% here and a -2% there.)
I completely understand that you are trying to give important advice to help people and not just trying to win an agreement. I respect that.
However, if you are afraid of kids dying from Covid, then please just take a couple minutes and visit the CDC website to do your own fact checking. I promise you will be better equipped to make decisions for yourself, your family, and others.
I will concede that the officials (who are not always young) are a real concern . . . but given the CDC numbers by state, I just don't see any strong indication that masks make the situation better for them.
Further, as my son has been traveling around the country to wrestle, my personal experience seems to corroborate that mask-less wrestling hasn't caused any issues.
When both the science and my personal experience agree, I tend to get on board.
Next, I suggest you start questioning those sources that keep pushing the number of "Cases". They might not be the best people to trust . . . they might not have YOUR best interests at heart.
I myself was surprised at who was "spinning" the facts.
