From my understanding, we have not made sure our message is clear. Football was moved out of "high risk" because a concerted effort. We need to do the same ASAP. Not looking for anyones political stance, just asking you to go to the link in this message and send an email to the Governor.
Conversation with the DOH regarding high risk sports... Basketball and Wrestling. DOH mentioned that they have not received many emails regarding these sports. If we want wrestling to resume sooner rather than later, we need to email the governor's office and let our voices be heard. We have been patient and respectful, however, it is time to voice our opinions. Attached is the link, please take a few minutes and send your message regarding wrestling and even basketball.
Recently data was submitted backed by many states that have allowed for wrestling. Over 29,000 COVID tests were provided with a 99.96% negative rate. Having been at both Montana and Idaho State Tournaments over the past 2 weekends, and successfully helping Utah host dozens of events, Washington can safely and effectively resume wrestling.
Bare in mind wrestling has not stopped for Washington residents it has merely stopped happening within the state of Washington. Washington wrestlers have and continue to travel outside of our state to seek competition and opportunities. The data provided and supported by every state that has had and continue to have wrestling is back by data supporting the safety of such. We understand not every athlete has equal opportunity to travel and this is exactly why we feel it is important Washingtonian begins to put pressure on our governor to allow our kids some normalcy. Our Governor says our state makes decisions back by data, the data for wrestling speaks for itself CLEARLY.
But really, do you think King Jay gives a sh$t about high school wrestlers? Be realistic, after he beat down the village idiot from Republic in the last election he will cling to his "emergencey powers" until the end. The state legislature is basically his lap dog and the state judicial system is worthless in regards to limiting his power. It is what it is.
