Freakshow

Boise Idaho. This weekend. Friend of mine is officiating. When the tears fall will they be emotional or physical pain. Freak show!

Love this tournament. So many tough kids coming from all over. 18U elite is hammerville.

Sounds like the tournament may have made changes though, so I'm not sure how accurate it is.....

How did Freakshow go from anyone that attended? How was it run? Crowded? Competition level? How did the WA guys do (I looked at Floarena, but curious from those in attendance)? Thanks for info.

What are the next big wrestling tourneys on the west coast since high school looks months away?

The competition was good but RMN left a sour taste with people. Absolute money grab. We all knew it would be a lot of $$ but charging almost $30 per person per session with multiple sessions a day was insane. If it wasn't the wrestlers session they had to pay to get in.. and the sessions were split up so much - people had no option but to pay huge amounts. Families that had more than one wrestler in different ages spent a fortune. Coaches who brought athletes had to pay for the athletes to get in while they coached others - so kids had supervision. Total money grab. If they had been upfront about it- people would have made plans. But they announced that a day before the tournament started and everyone had already traveled.
Not to mention the changing of the schedule last minute. Some families traveled Thursday to find out their kids weren't wrestling until Sunday afternoon. And then have to hang out i a hotel because you can't afford the $600 in admission fees if you went to watch the tournament while waiting for your session.
Definitly turned our team off for future RMN events. People want communication.

RMN has burned more bridges then any other wrestling organization. It has always been about the money for them. Several years ago they tried to invade Washington and were kicked out of several different venues after 1 year of taking the money and running. They tried again a few years back and very few wrestlers entered so the pulled out and left the sponsors holding the rent of the venue bill. Do not support this group as they do not support wrestling. They are only in it for the money they can make for themselves.

The only good thing was the sessions went pretty quick and it was easy to follow.
However, it was an insane amount of cash. The pay per session is absolutely ridiculous and doing that a day or two before it starts is a SCAM.
As long as it's back in Vegas we'll return. Idaho? No way

Been to 4 RMN events this year. All excellent. All ran pretty much on time.

Personally, I don't watch another mans pocket.

If hey earn money while putting on events that re unavailable anywhere else who are we to criticize?

My only question to you is what will you complain about when there are no tournaments to attend?

I agree with rainman99 in being one of the only events around because of covid.
Its an ethical situation not a wrestling one.
Ed runs a business plain and simple and after going to these events for just about ten years now i do have to say he does a great job.
I will say that this idaho event was just down right Obscene!
Last min changes in schedule weigh ins, age group changes and added costs simply because he could not because it was the right thing to do.
The medals were great, the big team trophies didn't even have a plaque on them??.
Look i appreciate the event and opportunity however we also went to utah earlier this year and that was ran much better, no extra cost or schedule changes and still great competition.
All in all this really left a bad taste and turned me off to future events with RMN anytime soon.
I want to compete like everyone else but i really don't have the finances or time to deal with greedy people who take advantage of situations, people in a sport we all love.
I don't have the right answer, i am really shocked is all didn't see that coming.

Positive Covid Test

I know someone who tested positive for covid days after this tournament. Lets hope wrestling doesn’t up in the mews.

I wonder if they had the sniffles? Maybe a little fatigue? Or they had to take a test for their work and actually had no symptoms at all?

Could you possibly provide the wrestlers County of residence. I am only asking because my family was in contact with some of those who attended Freakshow, and I'd like to know if we should be concerned in the event we are not notified of possible contact.

WA resident with a HS school aged kid. From watching it on Flo there wasn't a lot of protocol going on.
