Predictions for Saturday I have listed the top 4 in each weight and the @ represents the alternate. Letís hear your predictions:
This weight will be fun. Best match of this bracket is going to be Jack and Curry rd2. I think the most intriguing match is Cross and Nguyen, which I think will happen twice. I think Cross will win but I could absolutely see them splitting matches here.
@ Cormier (E)
This weight is going to be dominated by the Olympic Division. The loss of Alvarez (KL) in the other division is big- he was the only guy at 113 who I feel would compete with the Olympic division guys.
@ Xayansanh (H)
This weight is absolutely BRUTAL the top 4 here are really going to cause huge problems for whoever they get paired up with at State in the first round. The biggest match is Hanson and Whitehall-Gilke in round 1. The winner would loose to Triplette in the semis then have Ayers in the match to get in (a match that both of them have already won pretty convincingly). The loser of that match most likely has Cassel to get in to 3rd/4th and will be wrestling for the alternate spot.
Lots of intrigue here for me. Sena and Shakhzdayev in rd 1. Possible Sena and Chauhan in the semis. Collins can go on his feet with probably anyone in this bracket so that is interesting. Possible Collins and Shakhzdayev rematch of their semi final match last weekend with the winner going to state. Lots of evenly matched guys here.
@ Shakhzdayev (KM)
One of the least intriguing brackets to me. I think the only match of real excitement could be the Kwan v Fontes semi. Kwan looked really good as of late and I know Fontes has had a good year but have not seen him a ton lately.
@ Martin (T)
The winner to State matches here should be really good ( I have Contreras v MacLearn and Yancey v Enciso in that round). Interested to see how a Contreras v Yancey matchup goes in the first round as well.
@ Contreas (A)
Starrenís weight all day, that probably wont change much until the State semis where he may be tested. I think Smail and Nahaku is the match to watch in this weight, flip a coin could go either way.
De La Pena (KC)
@ Guaderrama (TB)
I think the top 1-4 could finish in any order. Heylinger was on fire last week until the final so he could crack into the top 4. Brooks and Boyton had a 1 point match last week. We should see it again. If Boyton wins I think Roberts beats Brooks for 3rd, If Brooks wins I think Boyton gets 3rd and Roberts 4th.
@ Heylinger (D)
Pritchard is interesting here. Potential matchups with both Hulitt and Whitney are interesting to me. I think the winner to state match between Sandhu and Pearce will be good.
@ Pearce (D)
Labranche Mairs and Gregson first round matchup could play big for both teams to get their guy through to state. Winner here would have Kagen in the winner to State round and the loser would have to face Nguyen. The winner has a much better matchup in that scenario. This weight is all Tyack. He probably pins his way through.
@ Labranche Mairs (A)
Like 120, this weight is absolutely stacked 1-4. The Clay v Kremer semi is going to be awesome. How will their styles match up? Rowland is one of the more underrated guys across the state IMO. He may not be as good as the top 3 but if he doesnít receive a stud in his draw for state he could knock off a #1 from another region at the Dome.
@ Garcia (KM)
Top 3 here are really good. Not sure anyone in the state can hang with Gasper except the Chiawana kid. Pedro beat Planesi earlier this year and I expect the same here. Luchi v Wright in the first round is potentially huge. Winner loses to Gasper in the finals and then should have a pretty solid road straight to the 3rd place match. The loser will have Planesi in the winner to state match, which I donít think either of those two will beat Planesi.
@ Luchi (E)
The top 3 in this weight are pretty much a lock it seems. The 4th spot is up for grabs between a lot of guys who may not make any noiseat the Dome but are all pretty evenly matched. I have a Loudermilk v Livingstone winner to state match which could go either way. Loudermilk kind of came out of nowhere to make it through the weaker Cascade division, however his only loss on the weekend was to Kovacs. Results between common opponents from that weekend with the two are very comparable. I think the final spot to state comes down to Loudermilk, Livingstone, and Siva and I think those 3 could finish in a different order every time they wrestle this bracket.
@ Loudermilk (KL)
Cascade should dominate this bracket thanks to a little wrinkle in sub district. Juarez was the number 1 seed heading in but injury defaulted in the semis and for 3rd. That makes a very tough 1 v 4 matchup 1st round between him and Popke. If Juarez is healthy I think heís the best in this bracket. This sets up a Tuifua v Popke winner to state match which I think could go either way.
@ Popke (E)
