Rankings are based on team scores at the individual state tournament. Dual tournaments do not always reflect the same results. Example: A "1A" team with 3,000 kids enrolled may take 28 wrestlers to the Tacoma Dome with the majority of them scoring points on the backside of the bracket along with a few placers and win the state tournament by 100 points, whereas a dual tournament favors a team with 1 solid wrestler at each of the 14 weights.
