It has taken some time, but the Mat Classic Brackets are once again live on TrackWrestling (TW). Here is the information for the postseason SOPs, which includes seeding criteria and the Zoom link for tonight’s meeting. That meeting is primarily for Head Coaches: 2025 Wrestling Postseason SOPs.
For transparency, the issues we encountered yesterday and today were due to how the criteria for District Qualifying were set up in TW and how team rosters were labeled. Initially, the system was pulling all placers from qualifying events instead of just the qualifying tournament champions, as outlined in the criteria. Once that issue was corrected, another change affected the seeds when they were updated today. We have since worked with TW to correct all qualifying tournaments, re-captured all available data, and re-seeded the brackets.
The brackets now reflect all the data in TW, along with what coaches have entered on their schedule pages. Please refer back to the SOPs for all seeding criteria. There may be instances where a wrestler has a win against a higher seed but is ranked below them. This is due to the total points earned through the criteria.
In the wrestling bracket, wrestlers are compared to each other using specific criteria, one at a time. Each wrestler is evaluated based on the given standard, earning either a point or no points depending on how well they meet the criteria. This process continues for each criterion until all wrestlers have been assessed. Once all points are awarded, wrestlers are ranked in the bracket according to their total score, determining their position and seeding for the competition.
Thank you,
Washington Interscholastic Activities Association
Hey Justin what about 3 way ties? How did you in all of your ever knowing brilliance handle that? That is a start to being transparent.
