I understand the argument about having 1 champion, boys and girls but it's not reality and will never happen in Washington.
The WIAA looks at participation and it's obvious that girls wrestling is exploding. I've seen a noticeable jump in just the last 3 years (When they went from 1 division, to 2 divisions and now 3-4 divisions).
I coached middle school 30 years ago when there were only a few girls in the whole league. We've come a long ways and it will continue to grow which will make it more competitive.
I also think dual state will bring more girls to wrestling knowing they can be a part of something bigger even though individually they may not be as successful.
