If you want WA D1 numbers to come up, then you have to get kids on the MAT with future D1 wrestlers. DOC-B, SUPER32, FARGO, Journeyman, IRONMAN, USAW National Level events, etc etc etc etc.
Great WA wrestlers enter HS in WA State and regress during the HS season. A few programs support their best by getting them to DOC-B or Virginia Beach HS nationals. GOOD FOR THEM, they are few. Other schools, to their credit, put together the toughest schedule they can. I know doing these things is not easy. It costs money, time, and figures in to outings and match counts. I get it.
If elevating WA wrestling is the AIM, then a non-profit with lots of money would be most useful. This could help programs with grants and with getting their best out there at the events that push the kids and get them noticed.
