Ridiculous rule when any kid can claim they are too hurt and then continue to wrestle that day without clearer guidelines of what type of injury may allow them to continue (playing it safe with a suspected concussion for example?). However, If a kid forgets his inhaler, that’s just plain irresponsible and their day should be over. Our kids give the coaches an extra inhaler to hold for all day and have another in their bag.
All said, I feel if someone is too hurt and it causes the other wrestler to be DQ’d, the DQ’d wrestler shouldn’t be done for the day ESPECIALLY if the “injured” wrestler wrestles again. If a kid punches someone, etc,, then yes—done for the day.
I know this is a little off-topic, but I share it to say all the rules involving an injury and DQ’s should be re-evaluated and more specific on what constitutes an injury where he can wrestle again.
