After reflecting on it last night, "coward" might be too harsh of a word. However, I really believe this attitude is a major contributor to why we have so few WA kids finishing college. I have seen so many dads encouraging their sons to duck competition to pad their high school stats. When I was in college, I couldn't believe how many incoming freshmen with huge high school accomplishments would quit by Christmas break because they couldn't handle getting beat in the room or at the opens. When I moved here after college, our goal for our sons throughout their wrestling careers was to try to seek out the best competition, which did result in losses at times. I really believe that has helped them in college to weather the storm and focus on getting better when they take losses or have slumps in the room. Just my two cents as a crazy dad.
