Yes, we are very close to losing Mat Classic. Last year, the WIAA basically broke even financially on Mat Classic. This year, they were projected to lose money, and their plan was to aggressively pursue additional sponsorships to make the tournament pay for itself. This is all public knowledge in the WIAA board meeting minutes.

If state does split, you’d be most likely to see:

B’s at Spokane Arena or Convention Center with Small School girls.
1A and 2A at Sundome, or possibly TRAC or Toyota Center in Kennewick.
3A, 4A and Big School girls at Westside sites like Showare, Everett?

Or, replace any of these locations with a large high school that has the space to host this event.

Of course, if state leaves the Dome, then WSWA would not be able to use it for Folkstyle state, AND you’d have to push the tournament back a week anyway, as people COULDNT get from points all over the state on Saturday for HS State to WSWA Folkstyle Sunday at a location possibly hundreds of miles and a mountain pass away.
