So splitting the boys into more divisions led to a decrease in participation. It didn’t elevate the level of the boys. If anything, it did the opposite. But for the women, splitting divisions is going to somehow Jack the numbers way up, bring a bunch of college wrestling programs to the state, and make the girls better wrestlers? If two division are good, why not go straight to three? For the next five years why not guarantee every girl who sticks with the sport through the whole season a spot at state. Maybe even a medal? That would get a lot of girls out for the sport.
