Firstly, I just wanted to add that the divisions, whether I, II, or III, at the NCAA level, are all unbelievably tough, so while 8th place may induce a shrug or not exactly raise a lot of eyebrows to the casual observer, it ain't Washington high school mat classic 8th place. Anyone who takes 8th at any NJCAA, NAIA, and especially NCAAs had to win several matches (as opposed to just two at the WIAAs) against a bevy of excellent wrestlers, typically kids who were the best of the best of the best wherever it is that they came from. This may seem like a "duh" comment, but hey, we all get a little desensitized I think after so many years of this Fargo, that Fargo, this tournament, that tournament, this division, that division, etcetera.
