As for matside weigh-ins, most coaches in our sport place a high value on weight-cutting. It took having girls compete in large numbers for most wrestling coaches to have a problem with adults lining up and weighing in dozens of naked children (I wrestled in MS and HS mostly in the 80s). It took until a couple years ago to get them to weigh kids in with singlets on instead of underwear. Add to that the fact they also don't care what a kid weighs when they step on the mat to compete and you make matside weigh-ins a non-starter. I've coached in multiples states and offered coaches the opportunity to do matside weigh-ins completely off the record and where only they could see the results (bring your own scale, sit it next to your bench, and check weights) and have never had anyone accept it. I wish that would change.
