It ain't the grades, Those Toppenish kids come from agricultural parents who barely make ends meet. Academics isn't an issue. Some of those kids don't know anything outside of the environment they've been raised in. Grants, Scholarships etc... etc... is not in their best interest cause they've never been taught that's my guess. But really why do we talk about Toppenish so much ? Are they really that bad ? I've met them various years and their coaches too never came off the wrong way. In your face wrestling, physical, aggressive and determination to win is all I saw from those kids.
