There is no wonder why we don't have college wrestling. You can't even support club, middle school or high school kids and coaches. Jesus.
Like anything else in life there will be supporters and haters, but never in my life have a seen a forum consistently slander, insult and try to cancel coaches, dads, supporters of wrestling.
My son has spent most of his wresting career in Pennsylvania, and I would keep it that way if I could because we don't see all this negativity here. Because I'm a WA boy, run Gut Check, officiate and have non profits there is why I remain doing this.
That said, my kid has not been to Victory, but I know Rene and have had great conversations with him. He has results because he is a good coach, period. Alexio I do not know personally but have seen him around kids and know he is also an excellent coach. Manny, formerly of Victory, just got the HC job at Chiawana and had Jack's blessing from what I hear, plus Chiawana kids go to see these guys to train as well. I've know Ford for a long time even before Dynasty, and he is very positive, easy to talk to and his parents and kids buy in. Feist, bless him, he and I have had our differences but he is a good coach, his community buys in and club flourishes. Sneva in North Thurston, Askeo in Clark County, Jody in Orting, Alfi in Edmonds. These guys are all good and their kids love them.
If you don't care for a certain coach then by all means don't go there. This thread is like verbal domestic violence already. Start a thread about how we can work together, set our differences aside, build a foundation for college wrestling, bring our top guys back to coach in WA, help our officials get better and mentor the future guys.
Here are the facts, it's called the trickle down effect. High School wrestling is successful when their club or Middle School is successful. Middle school is successful when the schoolboy aged kids and clubs are successful. Schoolboy aged wrestling is successful when your peewee and bantums are learning and loving the sport.
Let's touch base on the transfer "dilemma", SMH. There will always be transfers, just like WA will always have a lot of rain. Transfers happen for many reasons - academics, job opportunities, athletics, housing.. If a club coach or high school coach gets a transfer in then great, they will coach that kid as best as they can. Does that mean their prior coach didn't help that kid? No. Does that mean the new coach will take all the credit? No. Everyone here is so enamored by who gets credit for the kids success. Maybe the parents raised a good kid with a solid work ethic? Maybe the kid is mentally and physically tough and deserves the credit him/herself? Maybe everyone had a hand in the success of that kid...what a concept.
Eventually coaches have to ask if the juice is worth the squeeze and if the public abuse is worth it. Keep bashing these coaches and when they leave, you won't like the replacements either, and so on.
Honestly, it's a shame this thread has been let go this far as it is a dagger in WA wrestling and to these coaches. There are way more important things to discuss here like summer events, what colleges our seniors are going to, what camps and clinics are in WA to get our kids better. Just my two cents but what the #### do I know about wrestling.
