I would like to try and set a baseline for this discussion. I am the 14U director for WSWA. This board position encompasses the 14U boys and 14U girls and my goal is to increase the opportunities for the age group to represent WA state proudly.
In 2019, USAw added the 14U girls division to the Women's JR duals as a "festival" This "festival" was added too late in the game for WSWA to make budget adjustments. In 2020, COVID cancelled the National Duals for all age levels. In 2021, both the 14U boys and 14U girls represented WA in Utah and won Gold in FS and GR for both genders.
This year, the interest for a 14U team to Tulsa National Duals was brought to me and I took the idea to the board at a scheduled board meeting, with a written plan and proposal and it was approved with support of ALL WSWA board members.
As stated in here, the support of women's wrestling is there. The quality of women's wrestling in in WA is there. Rather than talking about it on here, find the proper age-level director in the state organization, express your idea with a plan and see where it goes.
All of the WSWA board members are here for the betterment of wrestling in WA for all ages of boys and girls.
THANK YOU to all of you who support the growth.
