At a certain point in a quality wrestlers journey they no longer look for quick pins. They look to get time on the mat in live competition to prepare for the goals they've set.
If a wrestler puts in 30 hours per week on the mat only to face an opponent they pin in 10-25 seconds, the trade off does not make sense.
If the better wrestler wants/needs to work on moves, keeping in mind they are putting themselves at risk by letting up a potentially game opponent each time, please explain a better way?
I assure you, the moment the wrestler you are supporting gets good enough, they will have to find ways to get more mat time in live competition.
It certainly isn't showboating.
Pointing, pelvic thrusts etc is showboating.
It's rare for my kid to get cut anymore. Only time it happens is if the other wrestler needs points. There was a time that kids cut him, and about two years in a nationally ranked kid did it to him. The switch flipped and my son made that kid pay.
All wrestlers have this option.
