Every season our AD sends out a message encouraging sports participation:

Come out for fall sports!...by the way they start before school does so if the sport has cuts make sure you are back from vacation

Come out for winter sports!...by the way no Thanksgiving or Christmas break for you

Come out for spring sports...by the way no spring break for you!

Yes the second part is phrased differently, but that is essentially toe point.

Every sports season is 3-4 months long. There is absolutely no reason they couldn't be scheduled in a way to more appropriately match the school year.
