Thank you for your response, it's not as much of the mask wear as it is the issue that you are requiring us to test AND wear mask...what is the actual data for the places that have allowed athletes to compete without a mask after testing? As I said in my original email there was not one case in any of the tournaments, I sited post event when testing was required pre-event.
And that along with testing and wearing mask there is a philosophy of one positive all positive amongst teammates...this thought process is ONLY used in wrestling. We do not even use this in the school setting of a classroom.
I have invested a lifetime to the sport of wrestling, and it is going to end up dying in the state of Washington if we are forced to continue under these guidelines or we will be forced to move out of our home state which is not what most want to do.
DOH RESPONSE---ODD THEY WENT BACK TO THOSE VACCINATED AREN'T TREATED AS STRICT.
As I attempted to point out in my response
The CDC definition of a close contact does not differentiate between wearing/not wearing a mask.
Testing is also not 100%, especially when done with individuals who are not symptomatic.
The quarantine practice was standard in the NCAA for teams that were practicing together – we’ve encouraged prompt retesting of the “positive” athlete to lessen the likelihood of this happening.
Schools quarantine those students who are seated around the case; this is not different than what is being performed in this setting.
The testing protocol is relaxed when individuals are vaccinated.
