That is not a bad question or option. However, our current corporate sponsors are in the Kent area, and the tournament generates a lot of funds back into those sponsors and the city the week of the event.

Although we have been profitable it is a very expensive tournament to put on, and a lot comes out of pocket before tickets are sold and team fees come in. The City of Kent has awarded us a 30K grant the past 2 years which we are grateful for, and that money comes from business and lodging tax funds from throughout the year. That grant covers our venue expenses and is a must to have. Most cities and of course businesses got hammered last year from Covid and the funds are non existent.

This year we had surrounding cities partnering with us to make it happen as they were geographically close to Showare. G-D knows all businesses need income asap and with the addition of the duels and women's event we had nearly twice the competitors committed.

I'm not quick to throw in the towel so I will reach out to the Spokane Sports Authority and folks in Spokane I know well. Spokane is a great town and with the airport and hotels would be able to host GC this year. I will have to identify what rules for Covid apply to Spokane County as well and see if it's feesable. I will let you know what I find out and see if the sponsorship is even available.
