Quality and thriving local companies aren't going anywhere. Talented tech workers don't want to move to some dump southern state to save a few tax dollars. Talent acquisition rules in tech, and they can't get talent to move to areas where "science" is curse word. Boeing is an outlier (although they really aren't thriving anyway). They're in trouble due to their massive incompetence. They moved corporate to Chicago and some manufacturing to SC long before Inslee was elected. They're in a race to the bottom on the manufacturing side - and it hasn't worked out as well as they would've hoped. Major quality control issues occurred for many years in their new Southern plants, and they learned the hard way about the difficulty in finding a skilled workforce in a area of the country (deep south) where you can graduate from HS while reading at a 3rd grade level. Toyota had the same problem in Kentucky.
Fact is, the Washington State will be fine. If its too much for you (read in - too expensive, many can't hang in this ultra-competitive environment) please leave, no one will miss you.
