Unfortunately, due to the severe rise of cases (normal for more testings) and deaths (normal for the rise in cases) in states like California, Arizona, Florida and Texas, WA just like all other states are taking note. Those states jumped out of quarantine much faster than the rest and now are going from phase 2 or 3 back to phase 1.
This does not bode well for wrestling in particular as a "high risk" sport. The reality is if we see high school wrestling in the spring we will be lucky and grateful to have it this year, and I'm ok with that as opposed to not at all.
Regardless, all high school sports in general will be based on what the NCAA decides and right now with football it's not looking good, especially since entire conferences have already cancelled their seasons. I heard that the JUCO wrestling conference in CA has already said they are most likely not wrestling this year and the CIF has told wrestling coaches they most likely won't have a state tournament if any wrestling. OUCH!
Since things change daily like a baby's diaper we will just have to keep our fingers crossed, not just for July 22nd when WIAA makes an announcement. #ithurtsbutitsthetruth
