The match was actually stopped for blood time, not an UC.
Recovery time was NOT granted, blood time was started.
The ML coaches, from the edge of the mat, in front of their chairs, pressed the referree for a penalty for the knee.
The refs started talking, then a ML coach approached the table to request a conference.
The refs came to the table and an approx 45 second conference took place. After the conference at the table, ref awarded the UC and 1 pt penalty...wrestling resumed.
As for a protest...the head official was not in a position to see the knee clearly (the offending wrestler’s body blocked the angle) The asst ref was in perfect position to see the knee, but indicated he thought the Davis wrestler was doing a wrestling move.
I challenge ANYONE to explain what possible move involves drawing your leg back and kneeing your opponent in the head.
Unfortunately, some (very few fortunately) officials simply have either poor judgement or blantant bias that compromises their ability to do their job correctly.
