Ford Ka II 2013 - Instrument cluster airbag warning light not illuminating #

Hi

The instrument cluster is not showing the warning light for the airbag on startup self-test but is flashing the passenger cutoff airbag 2 warning light continuously.

According to the user manual the instruments flash this light to indicate fault with main airbag warning light.

No fault codes in airbag module only a B1000 Control Unit Internal fault in the cluster.

Looks like the clusters go faulty for other reasons just wondering if anyone seen this before or had any luck in repairing one? Are they prone to dry joints or faulty components (leds or bulbs). There is one other warning light (brake wear maybe?) that seems to glow ever so slightly.

Any help before we decide whether to send away for repair or purchase a new one would be appreciated.

I have seen this fault several times on the similar Fiat 500 models. It is a fault within the cluster electronics. It is usually a component fault ,but difficult to fix yourself. It is all surface mount technology. try here https://www.actronics.co.uk/instrument-clusters

Thank you for your reply.

I did look at getting it repaired but a new one from Ford was only £205+VAT and they were in stock so fitted that and programmed it in and all good again.

Like to think I'll get chance to strip the old one down and take a look, but then not having a car to try it back in means I probably never get round to it. Would be nice if the manufacturer could offer some form of repair/recon service as seems a shame that all the expensive electronics in the old unit is just scrap now.
