Ford Focus 1.0 Ecoboost 2012 - Cranking time exceeded - Fixed #

Hi
I have a 2012 Focus 1.0 ecoboost that I'm trying to start after an engine rebuild.
I cranked it 3 or 4 times without the plugs in to build up oil pressure and now all I get is 'cranking time exceeded' coming up on the dash. Google says wait 1 hr and you should be able to crank it, but still got the message and no crank after 3 hours and a battery charge.
Any help please!

Hi Colin,
Can you get straight onto starter motor and power it up direct with ignition on ?

Hi Dave, thanks for the quick response (as ever!)
I was ready to try that this morning, but after looking at a u tube video of some Indian guy checking and clearing ALL fault codes then a sequence of turning the ign on and off, I decided to give that a go first.
As soon as I cleared ALL codes present it cranked and started immediately.
The ign on and off bit in the video was just BS.

your brave rebuilding a ecoboost !!they are supposed to need a special jig to give the block stability when head is off ??What you been doing with it ??

A cracked head John and yes I had to take a deep breath before takling this one.
A mammoth task with new wet belts and all. Lots of complicated special timing tools and chats with mates who've done one.
Running sweet now, but I didn't use anything for 'block stability'.
A lot of these ecoboost will be written off before their time with head problems when maybe only 6 or 7 years old, due to the cost of repair.
