Hi all, I have fitted a S/hand DSC module to this car to hopefully fix the 5DF5 - control unit fault. Using a Launch and selecting coding I have apparently coded the S/hand unit to the car, as the chassis no of the S/hand unit now shows the chassis no of my car. Previously DSC, ABS and handbrake lights were on, now just the DSC and handbrke lights are on with ABS working fine. Code has now changed to 5E1F - vehicle ID number different(even though it now shows the correct chassis number) Question is can these units be overwritten, or is it still seeing the units old chassis number somewhere that I cant see? Am I missing something? Thanks a lot. Colin.
Thanks Alan, got this sorted now. Once the S/Hand ABS/DSC module is coded, Launch tells you to reset the steering angle sensor, which I tried a number of times only to get the 5E1F code still showing. Only when I tried swapping the Launch memory card to another, with an older programme, then trying the whole thing again with the older programme did it work, so there must be a problem with the newer programme. To be fair, neither programme is the latest version and I have had issues with the BMW programmes before(saying drivers airbag on one programme version then another says occupancy sensor). When I originally bought Launch I was told to keep 3 versions of each manufacturers programmes on the memory card so if one version had an issue you could try another version to avoid this problem. Of course with the 'new super fast extra easy way of downloading updates' it takes away you previous versions and substitutes the latest, so not allowing more than one version at any time! I expect this is just a way to get you to pay for more updates if your current version has a glitch and your subscription has expired! Lucky I had updates spread over 2 memory cards, but I wonder what will happen in future if I try updates on a new memory card?
