Honda / CR-V 2006 - VSA ESP fault #

Year of Manufacture: 2006

ABS & VSC lights on all the time

Fault code of 13-1 Left front speed sensor open / short circuit

Can erase the fault memory to no fault codes.
ABS VSC light still remain on?
Vehicle will run for few miles before 13-1 left front speed senor fault code returns.

Left front speed sensor has been replace!

Faults still remain!

Are these prone to wiring issues to speed sensors or is the main pump modulator faulty?

Would this be a genuine Honda part? Have you tried swapping the sensor with the other side?

Genuine Honda part. Not swapped them yet!

Back probing the sensor wires at both sensor end & ECM end shows 2.3 volts signal at the fault coded left front. Continuity looks good on both wires.

Back probe readings for the known good right front sensor shows 12 volts.

We have a voltage drop on the sensor with no signal. Reading is the same at the ECM side.

Could it be the ECM has internal fault?

Hi

So looks like these are active sensors, be aware that ECU may shut supply voltage down if it detects a circuit fault !

Best tested with a scope see what happens when key is cycled you can Also try checking voltage of known good and problem with sensors disconnected, that way both will have faults and ECU will apply same protocol to each,

Other must do test is load test wires (disconnected from ECU & Sensor) & check for short to earth and to each other.

Swapped the suspect sensor over to the O/S front harness & the sensor works & reads speed correctly.

Pretty sure the integrity of the 2 wires between the sensor & the ECM are good.

I get 12 volts at the ECM side with the sensor unplugged! Plug it back in & it drops to 2.3 volts! YES you would assume the sensor is shorted or open circuit but it works when connected on the O/S front connector.

There is a slight resistance reading difference between the N/S front & O/S front sensors but I don't think it is enough to cause a problem

No voltage drop from 12 volts if any of the other 3 sensors are unplugged!

Looking like the driver for the N/S front sensor in the ECM is Kapput
