Water ingressed past the engine ECU cover and damaged the Comfort? control module beneath the steering wheel. Symptoms were erratic alarm horn, lights turning on after locking the car, screen wash motor running on its own for 5 or 10 minutes, front wipers on normal speed permanently with ignition on.

I replaced the module for a matching used part and all is well, except for the front wipers which park in the upward position rather than at the base of the windscreen. They work as expected otherwise.

The seller is confident the module came from a RHD UK spec A4, and part numbers match.
I have contemplated the idea of reversing the polarity of the wiper motor but with my understanding of how the motor determines its park position I can't quite see how that would help.

The other theory is that the motor has done itself damage due to the excessive use while on continuously but I would like a second opinion or a way to prove that before I incur the customer any expense.

Any thoughts?
