Skoda Octavia III CKF 2013 Combi - Water pump #

Year of Manufacture *: 2013
( Optional ) Engine Code or CC: CKF

I'm looking for info on the mode of operation of the electromechanical water pump used on this common rail diesel. The cambelt driven pump has an electrical connection to it and is driven by the smooth side of the cambelt. The pump had failed and it has been replaced,seems to be working OK. Any help from VAG experts?

Hello David,
I'm no expert on VAG but I do know on the W12 engine in a Bentley

.
They use this electromechanical pump to increase cooling circulation at low engine speeds, also they run on after the engine is turn off to also circulate coolant on cool down.
I only know this because a friend of mine has one and I somehow get involved with it

That was very interesting,
Complex units though

I like the bit about the oil immersed maintenance free belt for the oil pump.

Thank you for the replies,especially Peter's link.It looks like these complex water pumps are having a high failure rate.If only VAG could design reliable water pumps!
