Audi A8 Quattro 2009 - No comms after new battery - Fixed #

Posted by Ian Waring on September 17, 2017, 11:31 pm

Year of Manufacture *: 2009

New Battery fitted on customers vehicle by RAC. No prior faults previously. Customer reported battery was completely flat with no voltage at all when RAC attended.

Roof and Seats now fail to work and numerous other faults.

Using VCDS, unable to open control modules with fault codes.

Tried deleting codes but they return straight away.

Disconnecting and recoding battery would be very much a last resort.

Can anyone steer me in the right direction?

Cheers,
Ian

Hi Ian,
Has the battery been coded? Any commonality on the modules involved, CAN or power supplies?

Does the engine start/What other functions do not work? A non coded battery will not cause electric consumers not to work.

I had this with my 2008 A8 i disconected battery for 10 minutes refiteed, re entered code of battery into battery management and it sprung to life. BUT what did happen is on motorway i would randomly get abs light flash on, turns out if you change battery and steering wheel isnt straight you have to re calibrate steering angle sensor

Yes Steve, battery has been recoded. Fault codes for roof and seats are in multiple modules. One of the fault codes reads 'functionality limited due to comms disruption'.

Andrew, Engine runs without any problem. Just convenience items that are affected.

Unless anybody advises otherwise, will disconnect battery and recode?

Thanks replies.

Ian

I have an A6 I see every 12 months that freezes after the owner lets battery go down. A battery reset and global scan then clear works for me

Disconnected Battery. Re-coded and now only the n/s Seat adjustment fails to work.

When in Seat Controller, there is no response from Controller.

New to this Scan Tool (VCDS), any tips on verifying Controller is faulty? Or is there a way of re-coding controller?

Thanks so far, cheers,
Ian

Seat Controller found to be faulty.

Customer has decided not to go any further due to costly repair.

Thanks for replies.

Ian
