Fiat Punto Evo 1 (199) 1.3D 2011 - Non start, no comms - Fixed #

Year of Manufacture *: 2011
( Optional ) Engine Code or CC: Multijet 1.3D

Looking at this for non-start or cranking and loss of comms, can't comm up with ECM or ABS, fault codes in dash are
U1701=ECM-Missing message (NCM)
U1706=NFR Node absent-missing message.
All power supplies and earths are good, Ive removed the abs plug and linked the high speed CAN daisy chain also checked the ECM CAN wiring from the ABS, also linked the steering angle sensor CAN lines, still no joy. Haven't got to the BCM yet to check connections or tests, had a look with the scope at signals on Diag plug on pins 6 & 14 and they are all over the place very erratic.

Any Help Appreciated.

Have you scoped the CAN circuits to see what you have where?

Hi Steve,

I think I would scan everthing on the PT Bus this may help to point you in the right direction. See who's complaining about who.

Check for supply voltage to sensors on engine (PCM output) - Is PCM beaving?

Start signal from PCM missing? Scope the PT Bus and unplug modules see if the signal cleans up.

Is the IC the gateway on this car? I don't know.

What scantool are you using?

The Fiat tech website is free to use but you have to download a program for it to operate - a bit painful to set up but great once its up and running.

Thanks guys, this is now sorted it was the yaw sensor on the high speed CAN daisy chain, the cables to it where being moved by the handbrake cover sleeve every time the handbrake was used and eventually broke one of the cables, i tried to upload a photo but for some reason it doesn't want to work for me.

Found it by testing the CAN lines it was in between the BCM and the electric power steering module.
