VW Passat CC 2009 - Brake caliper replacement - Fixed #

Year of Manufacture *: 59 plate

Hi guys

I have a brake caliper to change on above vehicle with epb. what's the correct the procedure for replacement and resetting and bleeding, have kts 570. I know it has to be done by obd. Brake is stuck on at moment, do I set up with kts first or bleed system first.

Hi Mike,
I would bleed the system first and then set up the EPB.

Hi all

Bleed system first then used bosch kts to set up calipers program locked up and would only retract calipers phoned bosch helpline no idea disconnected bosch 570 had to restart program. However hand brake worked OK so can call it fixed.sent file to bosch but surprise no reply.

Hi all,further faults with this vehicle the other side caliper has gone faulty,we need to fit another caliper next week.my question is can I get away with fitting a new caliper without setting up with diagnostic tool had problems last time with losing comms, has anyone fitted caliper without programming.

I have in the past, fit the calliper, bleed it, operate the handbrake to wind out the motors. You really need to perform basic settings after though.

Hello Mike,
Are these calipars are the type with motors on them, and a thick two wire connector block?
I have in the past had to disconnect the terminal block and use a power probe on the motor side to wind them back.

But as already mentioned I would still carry out adaptations with a battery support unit.

As mentioned, I always used a battery support. I always retract calipers before fitting as I had an issue trying to set a caliper another garage had fitted, the issue I had was they fitted new caliper but as one was at normal operation but obviously the other was wound back, that was a right pain to set, also there is different calipers that can draw a different amperage also.
