Ford Focus 1.6 2007 - Intermittent non stat, Immo light flashes - Fixed #

Hi all.

I have a problem with a ford focus. the fault is intermittent some mornings when you try to start the car the immo light is flashing so wont start when left for about 8 mins it will then start
when checking fault codes it comes up with canbus faults. i have checked fuse board connections sprayed with contact cleaner.
Also checked the two plugs on near side kick panel and the earth wires on n/s sill and the big earth wire on from batt to body earth.
I have seen this fault on about three focus.but never found the problem. it could be the instrument cluster.

Hi Greg,
Have you tried scanning the instrument cluster when it is playing up? What is happening with PATS at the time?

Thanks Aiden and steve i will check the cluster tommorow when it starts playing up.

Common problem ,fault with cluster.Simple (diagnostic) check;give the dash a thump on top of the cluster area,if all comes back to life,this will confirm the fault.Last one of these I looked at a few weeks ago,main ford dealer quoted £900 to fix it.If you have not removed a cluster before,be Very careful.Unclip/pull forward the lower cluster trim,remove 2 torx screws.Do not pull the pod from the bottom.Get 2x12" plastic rulers and run them along the top edge of the pod where it meets the dash,and carefully spring the pod away from the locking "ridge".Plenty of specialists repair these.

yes it looks like it is the dash thumped the top of the dash and
the disply were the milage is started coming up with differant faults.
so i am taking it down to waterlovilie nr portsmouth to cartronix
to repair.thanks for all your help.

You can repair yourself. Dry solder joints on the circuirt board. Videos on YouTube

Fault now fixed, it was the dash.
