Mini One 1.4 2007 - Non start - Diagnosed #

Year of Manufacture *: 2007

Leading up, customer aware vehicle running badly
Finally, made around 50 yards and returned home as so bad. Thereon, vehicle won't start.

Only Codes were Vanous Codes. Deleted all Codes and Codes haven't reappeared.

Tests carried out:

Fuel Pressure 3.5 bar.
Removed Fuel Rail - Injector Spraying fuel. Compressions, 165psi.
Good spark on all four plugs.
Cold Start Sensor in Thermostat Housing which had open circuit. Ordered new unit.

Externally attached wiring to new Housing Sensors before fitting. Still non start. Now confused

When vehicle is turned over, it goes several seconds trying to fire, then peters out.

Yet to check its valve timing but as compressions are so good, thoughts are timing chain cannot have jumped .. open to suggestions and advise!

Wrong fuel ? Blocked exhaust ? EGR stuck open

Can you see actual vs desired cam timing in live data? (Just wondering if the vanos unit has stuck in the incorrect position)?

Thanks for replies.

Clamped Fuel Pipe and reduced Fuel Pressure. Finally got vehicle going!

Vehicle runs really well, once started but after few revs on Accelerator, engine runs lumpy.

Checked codes:

2845 Vanos Exhaust Actuator Movement
2870 Vanos Inlet Adaption Stop
2891 Inlet Camshaft to Crankshaft correlation

Not yet had Rocker Cover off to check Valve timing but am I correct in saying these Codes relate to Timing Chain Stretch or Timing Chain Jump?

I possibly have 2 faults - engine rough on start-up and engine hard to start.

Can anybody tell me if these Chains can cause hard start as I have fitted new Coolant Temp Switch and Thermostat Housing through temporary fit?

Have not connected Scope to Injector to see what the duration time is from cold.

Need now to speak to customer to agree on further investigation.

Okay ... Chain has stretched - Cams out of alignment.

Don't have Crank and Cam tools so vehicle has gone to an engine specialist.

Ian the timing tools are about £60. It would've been good to complete the job.
