Hi

Car came into us with Battery light on and we checked if it was charging and it seemed to be charging perfectly. On advice we fitted new DENSO alternator and light went off after a bit of driving. Light came back on shortly after and we fitted new battery and same problem existed with light on most of the time but car charging perfectly.

Any ideas?

Hmmm Search "smart charge alternator" ??

Have you done a code read ?

Open circuit wiring between alt and ecu. If the ecu can't see the Alternator charge rate it will bring the light on even though it is charging fine.

P0620-60.Generator control circuit.
P1632-20.Smart alternator output circuit.
I think i will have to check wires from alternator to ECU.
Will get back if i find cause.

Found fault.Checked 3 wire connection onto aleternator.The middle wire which is blue had no current when plugged out so i traced this wire through loom and found break in wire down back of engine.The blue wire travels in loom across the front of engine over timing belt housing and then goes down the back of engine and turn across towards gear box side where it goes into fusebox.The break in wire was between top of timing belt housing and where loom turns at bottom rear of engine.
Hope this is of some help to someone who has same problem.The wiring in modern cars is very small and tends to break easily .

So I take it that alternator and battery were still faulty?
