vauxhall Insignia a20dth 2013 with 60k on the clock came in on a hook with no compression.

the timing belt and all the running gear are perfect and not the reason for the falure , the timing marks externaly lined up, but in the cam box the inlet cam did not.

so begins the post mortem ........

cam pully has sheared its key way and spun , cam box removed and i need a hoover.

fully striped the engine down and we have contact with 5 inlet valves , 5 rockers smashed, cam box gears smashed, and lobes on the inlet cam rotated out of sequence. also cam box casing cracked.

so begins the rebuild and i purchase a recon cambox from a specialist and when it arrives there are some differences, so a call to the shop for reasurances and i email some pictures and they say my original cam box is a casting,
There word for a fake .

I start looking more closely and i think there are right.


I never knew fakery went this far have a look and see what you think, The casting is so rough there is no way that a manufacture would produce this is there ??
