VW Polo 3 Cyl BME 2007 - Code P0341 & P0322 Cuts out and hard to start - Fixed #

( Optional ) Engine Code or CC: Bme

Car cuts out and hard to restart. Code p0341 camshaft signal intermittent and p0322 engine rpm no signal. I have scoped the cam sensor in hot and cold conditions as car has never cut out with me and good signal. Can I find the crank sensor. Someone did tell me that the starter has to be removed to gain access. Anyone know where sensor is located.

If you've got Autodata it's shown in the diagram for timing chain replacement. It is removed to fit the locking tool. It's ages since I did one but I'm sure I didn't remove the starter.
If you want to 'scope it, can you connect at the PCM?

Thanks Tom. I do have auto data and will look tomorrow. It was late Friday when I started this and although scoped the cam I did not want to get into wires at ecu as it was well protected. First thought was get to wires at sensor then could not find it. Well past finish time so gave up for another day. Cheers for the reply.

On the back of the block near the starter, No.3 cylinder end, picks up off the flywheel.

I've never had to remove a starter to access one, although i've heard of technicians who have. Possibly an issue on certain engine codes?

How did I miss it. Too rushed I think. Yes a wee bit awkward but checked with scope. No expert but again seems ok hot and cold. Decided to replace with customers permission so time will tell.
