Year of Manufacture *: 2013
This is a bit of a learning curve for me. I haven't seen many of these Insignias yet.
So, this car has been repaired after a front end impact. I don't have any details as to the extent of the damage, but the Airbag ECU stores the following codes.
Using Dec Superscan 2 I have recovered the following codes. I have Tech2 here and am very familiar with its programming procedures, but obviously it doesn't cover the Insignia models!
Assuming that the airbag ECU had crash data stored and finding that a replacement ECU was surprisingly cheap, I ordered a new one.
Now, when I plug in the new ECU and check fault codes (before programming) I note rather worryingly, that it reports all the same codes above as well as a load of others as it hasn't been coded to the vehicle. My Dec gives me the option to configure the new ECU but there is seemingly a technical issue with their software preventing me from proceeding. I'm on to them about that at the moment.
My query is, why does the new ECU report the same fault codes as the old one. Airbags, pensioners etc have all been replaced. Are these codes stored somewhere else or is there further issues with the airbag circuits after the accident?
Re: Vauxhall Insignia 2013 Replacement Airbag ECU after crash query
Have you had a look in live data to see what all the circuit resistances are, this will tell you if the circuits are good or bad? Also all these connectors have shorting bars in, so make sure they are connected properly. Maybe get it on a decent scan tool, as there are sub codes for all these dtc's. All these could be pointless though if it's not configured yet, maybe check with old module installed first. A lot of the vauxhall modules can be cleared with dealer tool without having to replace.
If you get stuck you can send me the old module and I should be able to clear the crash data
Turns out that seat belt anchors and pretensioners have fired and the connections to the drivers airbag have been broken and left disconnected. Always check the simple things first! Just got to get the time to fit new seat belts etc and see whether I can clear all the codes in the old ECU.
