Mini Cooper 2002 - Passenger side airbag high resistance #

Year of Manufacture *: 2002
Passenger side airbag high resistance. I had this car in last week and cleaned the underseat connectors (not a lover of cutting them out if I can help it). The car re-offended over the weekend. I would like to access the SRS ECU and clean the connector there, but I can't find it. I know on the later models it's below the handbrake, on this one it isn't. Can't see it behind the handbrake, can't see it under the heater box. I know on some cars it's below the carpet, could this be the case here? Any good directions will save me a lot of stripping out. I told the customer that on rare occasions all the connectors on the system will need cleaning but he's now complaining and as he works on the same estate I'll probably end up doing it for nothing. Got the side airbag out but it appears that the cable is permanently connected, no connector there to clean. Shaun.

In my experience ,I have found the ab module on the transmission tunnel between the seats, but you need to remove the seats and carpet for access.Mini do a repair harness that runs directly from the module to the under seat connectors.

For the time being I cleaned all the accessible connectors again, reset the codes and the light stayed out. Customer will report back if the problem rears its head again.

Hi I find the best way is to use a scanner to check the live data for all the airbags and compare the resistance readings if possible. If it's a side airbag in a seat wiggle the wires while watching the data, it will probably be the connection under the seat which will need soldering really. It can also be useful to use a resistance simulator tool to replicate that of the airbag and try to reset or check live data again.
