VW Passat BXE 2008 - Code P2008 Camshaft position sensor #

( Optional ) Engine Code or CC: BXE

If anyone could help i would be greatful.
This car was dragged in after having an engine rebuild.
Will crank but not fire. Fault code P3008 camshaft position sensor G40 signal out of range is present.
They fitted a eurocrap parts sensor no change.
We scoped the sensor and got this pattern which doesn't seem to match any good waveform we have.
Is this pattern recognised by anyone, suggesting a particular fault.
Any help greatly appreciated.

scope trace A should be set to volts DC

then see what you get .

Try disconnecting the cam sensor and see if it runs.
I suspect the cam timing is incorrect.
