Ford S-Max 2.0 TDCi 2008 - Headlight faults #

Hi all.
I have above vehicle coming in next week for fault with lights. Headlamp dipped beam and side lights come on with ignition and nothing else will work, no main beam, dash lights or foglamps. Having had a brief look at wiring diagram I can see that the light switch is connected to gem via Lin, so if the switch was to fail would the gem recognise this and put lights into a kind of default mode?

I have not seen this specific fault,but with any weird electrical problem,I would start with a battery disconnect procedure first.

We have had loads of similar faults with these and it's always been water into the GEM MODULE usually the green plug or the little black plug next to it. Water I've been informed is condensation off the heater matrix if the drain gets blocked is the cause.

Water ingress on green plug on GEM module is via capillary action from the windscreen washer pump, Ford sell a revised part to fix this but not cheap Â£50-60 for a washer pump!

Loose Plug in bottom of BCM Like the Focus suffers with. ?
